New Emergency Services Complex Begins

Site work and preparations for construction has begun for the new Emergency Services Complex located at 15590 Highway 79 adjacent to Paris Landing State Park.
After lengthy planning and negotiations, an agreement has been reached between Henry County and the State of Tennessee to allow the construction of a new 13,200 square foot modern facility.
A total of 5 acres of land has been made available to Henry County by the State of Tennessee and Paris Landing State Park for emergency services use.
This includes the site of our old PLFD Station 1 which was torn down.
Old Station 1 was the result of an agreement between the State Park and Paris Landing Fire Dept which began in 1976 at the Department's beginnings. We are pleased and excited to be a part of this new Project!

The following agencies are participating in this project and will be located in the building as follows:
Building Front: Paris Landing Senior Citizens / Community Center
Building Front: Henry County Sheriff's Office / Tennessee Highway Patrol (these agencies will have an office located inside the Community Center allowing officers to complete their reports while remaining in the lake area)
Directly behind the Community Center: One bay will be shared by the Henry County Rescue Squad and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Boats will be stored here allowing quicker response by both agencies to emergencies on the Lake.

Next Area: Henry County Medical Center Ambulance Service.
The Lake area Ambulance Service will relocate into this new facility from the present location. (Currently the Ambulance Service is located in Paris landing Fire Dept Station 3 on East Antioch road.) 24 hour coverage is provided with an Advance Life Support Unit and a 2-man crew. Space will also be provided to include a 2nd Ambulance and a 2nd 2-man crew in the future as the needs grow in the lake area.

Last Area: Paris Landing Fire Department. 4 bays will be initially occupied by 3 trucks, with the 4th bay designated for a future ladder truck as funds become available. This bay will be utilized for a training and equipment area at the present time.A class room and quarters will also be included. Space is provided for a manned station as funds become available.  Funding for the project is provided as follows: Henry County will provide site work, and construction of the building shell and Community Center, with funding from the Tennessee River Resort Act.The Ambulance Service, Fire Depr, and Rescue Squad will be responsible for funding and completing the inside of their respective areas of the building according to their specific needs.

Plans are for completion in 2010. Follow the progress here on our web site!
